Writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson adapts Inherent Vice for the big screen, and it looks pretty slick.
The first ever film adaptation of a Thomas Pynchon novel, the story follows a private eye (Joaquin Phoenix, returning in his second P.T.A. film with the first being 2012’s The Master), who gets told by his ex old lady of a plan to get rid of a local L.A. billionaire (or so he thinks).
The latest P.T.A. ensemble hasn’t been this star-studded since Magnolia, with stars like Josh Brolin, Benicio Del Toro, Jena Malone, Owen Wilson, Katherine Waterston, Reese Witherspoon, Maya Rudolph, and Martin Short.
The film premieres December 12 in limited release.
