Box Office Predictions: March 4-6

After a close finish at the box office last weekend, this weekend offers four new films but only one of them is worthy of taking the number one spot.  Who is it? Hit the jump to find out

Andy’s Take

This weekend will definitely be a nice injection of excitement for the box office after the last couple of weekends have been well, boring to say the least.  Two of the films should do very well and bring in a good amount of ticket sales.  The other two, will be lucky to be in the top 10 next weekend.  One of the two that should do well is the highly anticipated Rango.  The film tells the story of a lizard (Rango, voiced by Johnny Depp) and his adventure to bring justice to a town modeled like that of town in an old western film.  The film marks the re-teaming of Depp and director Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean series). The other is the romantic-thriller, The Adjustment Bureau. Starring Matt Damon as a politician who suddenly finds himself in a game of tug of war with a mysterious group trying to steal the love of his life away from him.  When it comes to the other two films that aren’t going to attract much of an audience, one of them is Beastly.  The film stars Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical trilogy) and is a retelling of the classic story of Beauty and the Beast.  The other is the genre flick Take Me Home Tonight starring Topher Grace (That 70’s Show).  The film is about Matt (Grace) and the night of his last chance to grab the girl of his dreams.  Rango and The Adjustment Bureau should easily take #1 and #2 spots respectively this weekend.  They have had good reviews out of the gate and have been very well advertised.  My predictions are (new films in Bold, click on their titles for their trailers) :

1. Rango – $48.2 million

2. The Adjustment Bureau – $21.3 million

3. Gnomeo & Juliet – $8.5 million

4. Hall Pass – $7.5 million

5. Unknown – $7.2 million

6. The King’s Speech – $7 million

7. Beastly – $6.5 million

8. Take Me Home Tonight – $6.2 million

9. I am Number Four – $5.8 million

10. Just Go With It – $4.9 million
