The List – Top Ten Most Romantic Animated Movies

By: Emily Kellas

Whether or not you’re happy that it’s Valentine’s Day, there’s no denying that the ultimate in adorable valentine’s day style movies are some solid animated films that have come out over time. Here are Emily’s top ten most romantic animated movies of all time:

10.) The Fox and the Hound

Ok, so I know this is not really romantic, but the love between these two unlikely best friends is exactly what Valentines Day is all about!

Young Tod: “Copper, you’re my best friend.”
Young Copper: “And you’re mine too, Tod.”
Young Tod: “And we’ll always be friends forever. Won’t we?”
Young Copper: “Yeah, forever.”

9.) The Lion King

Childhood friends who reunite, fall in love, and triumph over evil? ROMANTIC!

Zazu: “One day, you two are going to be married.”
Young Simba: “Yuck.”
Young Nala: “Ewww.”

8.) Aladdin

Because it’s every girls dream to go on a magic carpet ride around the world with a sexy man… right?!

Aladdin: “But when I’m way up here it’s crystal clear,
that now I’m in a whole new world with you”

7.) Up

Mr. Frederickson and Ellie are the cute old couple that everyone hopes to be, and not the cranky, fighting old couples most of us have gotten to know while waiting in line at the pharmacy.

Ellie: [her last message to Carl] “Thanks for the adventure. Now go have one of your own.”

6.) Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

The first animated movie to give all of us cynical single ladies the “prince charming” myth, although truthfully… it still gives me hope!

Snow White: “Someday my prince will come”

5.) Pocahontas

Forget about the racial ignorance, and inaccurate history, Pocahontas knows that if you truly love someone you have to let them go, especially if that someone is voiced by Mel Gibson…

Pocahontas: “I can’t leave you.”
John Smith: “You never will. No matter what happens to me, I’ll always be with you, forever.”

4.) Lady and the Tramp

This movie single-handedly made spaghetti (seriously one of the messiest foods ever) romantic, and gave truth to the cliché “puppy love.”

Tramp: “…Look, there’s a great big hunk of world down there, with no fence around it. Where two dogs can find adventure and excitement. And beyond those distant hills, who knows what wonderful experiences? And it’s all ours for the taking, Pige. It’s all ours.”

3.) Cinderella

He loved her for who she was, and isn’t that what all of us ladies want?

Cinderella, Prince Charming: [both sing] “I’ll touch every star in the sky. So this is the miracle that I’ve been dreaming of…”
Cinderella, Prince Charming: [both sing] “So this is love.”

2.) Wall-E

Two robots fall in love and I end up crying… I knew I hated Sci-Fi for a reason.

1.) Beauty and the Beast

Facial hair is one thing, but this is absurd! Yet she loved him despite it all and broke the spell creating a “tale as old as time.”

Belle: “Don’t talk like that. You’ll be all right. We’re together now. Everything’s going to be fine, you’ll see.”
Beast: “At-at least… I got to see you… one last time.”
