This series should have stayed dead, now what few fans are left are only around. Unfortunately, those that remain are left to watch the garbage that is the Underworld series. The first Sherlock Holmes film awarded Robert Downey Jr. a Golden Globe award and was a box office success…hence cue the sequel. After the end of Mission: Impossible 3, it seemed as if the character of Ethan Hunt would walk off into the sunset, putting to bed a great franchise. However, the powers that be (i.e. Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams) have decided to bring back the franchise for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, and it blows its predecessors out of the water.
Tom Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt, a top agent at IMF. While on a mission in Russia the Kremlin blows up, and the Russian Government blames the IMF, forcing the U.S. President to initiate “ghost protocol,” meaning that the IMF ceases to exist and all its agents are disavowed. With no plan, back-up, extraction, or outside help of any kind, Hunt and his team have no choice but to pursue the Russian terrorists responsible for the bombing and stop them from unleashing global nuclear war.
