Looper Review

Writing a review for this movie is not easy. With every other movie that I have reviewed in the past it was on the basis of comparing it to another film, weighing the pros and cons, and all the other jargon that applies.

With Looper, I feel it really can’t be compared. Sure, it’s a hybrid-genre film like Blade Runner or Zombieland, but that’s a similarity in itself, not a comparison. Looper, Rian Johnson’s third film, manages to pay tribute to so many genres and at the same time stands alone as what extravagant, brilliant storytelling should be.

The Dark Knight Rises Review

By: Bryan Montgomery
Rating: 9 out of 10

To start, we’ll point out the best part of this film – nobody gets to make this kind of film anymore.

Christopher Nolan has broken the mold on the big-name epic, switching out special effects and digitally altered masses for hundreds of extras converging upon a single street in Pittsburgh. Movies on an epic scale such as The Dark Knight Rises do not come along often, and even when they do, they are rarely as good as this movie ends up becoming.

The Dark Knight Rises does not quite surpass its predecessor The Dark Knight on an individual scale, but looking at Nolan’s Dark Knight Legend as a whole, The Dark Knight Rises (TDKR) is, by far, the best film of the trilogy.

First Look at the New Batcave

If you’re a fan of Batman and heavily anticipating the release of The Dark Knight Rises on July 20, this week was interesting to say the least.  Warner Bros, after keeping the publicity for TDKR at low-intensity for weeks ramped the marketing machine to 11 this week, releasing three TV Spots, all of which featured new footage, along with over a dozen new posters, including the final theatrical poster.  Keep it locked to R-2-R for the next month as the film comes closer to theaters.

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer #2 Breakdown

By: Bryan Montgomery

And here, we, go….again.

Trailer number two, round two with the previews.  As was customary last time, I’m going to give all of you some screens from the trailer and then be completely wrong in my analyzation of the images.  That said, let me start by saying that this movie will be awesome.  Nolan knows what he is doing, and although all the nay-sayers have things against the movie already *cough* Bane’s voice *cough*, you know what you’re going to get with Nolan, and he won’t leave his faithful astray. That said, let’s get started with the breakdown. Hit the break for more.

50/50 Review

By: Lawrence Foster
Rating: 9 out of 10

50/50 is an appropriate title for this film in more than one way. The title represents the odds that Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a 27-year-old stricken with cancer will survive.

The title also represented the odds that it could blend Seth Rogen’s brand of humor with the seriousness of Adam’s disease. Luckily, director Jonathan Levine crafts a film that balances the laughs with Adam’s life or death battle with cancer. In fact, the argument can be made that 50/50 is the best film of the year.
