“Dark, thrilling, and occasionally quite funny, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is also visually stunning and emotionally satisfying”
Monty’s Take:
Six films in, and the franchise managed to bring something new to the table every time that the Warner Bros. logo flashes across the screen. Half-Blood Prince is a movie that takes the Harry Potter franchise to the next level, and sets the stage for the dramatic finale.
With a story that is missing Voldemort and focusing heavily on the origins of the dark wizard, Half-Blood Prince manages to create a solid and engrossing atmosphere that entertains and retains focus for its lengthy run time.
What works so well for Half-Blood Prince is the way that Yates approaches the installment. He keeps the magic that makes every year at Hogwarts intact while making a darker and more edgy story, perhaps enlightening the intensity and the tone of the battle to come.
